My Favorite Room with designer Kerry Howard of Howard House Interiors

We’re so lucky to have a celebrity interior designer call Greenville home. Kerry Howard appeared on Bravo’s Top Design in 2009 and HGTV’s Design Wars in 2010. He moved to Greenville a couple of years ago and recently opened his own design firm; Howard House Interiors, where he is Owner and Principal Designer.

Kerry chose this transitional-style living room as his favorite room and enjoys entertaining in the open floor plan. His living room is styled with a mix of old and new pieces and is a collection of unique decor collected over the years. Everything has a meaning. From the paintings given to him by his niece, to the pillows made out of his father’s and grandfather’s recycled ties, every detail is well thought out and is of importance to him.

Some of his favorite pieces are from his personal go-to thrift stores, Rock House Antiques, Artifacts, Asian Loft in Highlands and Foundry in Atlanta. Kerry is also inspired by Greek Key and decor made of glass, both of which play big roles in his fabulous living room. Kerry, we are so grateful you call Greenville Home!

Everything is styled to perfection. Note the use of the beads paired with the art sourced from LeftbankArt.

TOP 3 TIPS TO ACHIEVE THIS LOOK

1. Layering from the ground up with rugs, pillows and art to finish the room.

2. Go big on your highlighting features. They are the jewelry that adds the finishing touch.

3.Surround yourself with collected pieces that you love, from thrift store finds to antique stores. They’ll inspire conversation.

Bring on the books. You can never have too many to make a space look great.

Artwork by his niece when she was six years old (she is now 20 years old) is a special keepsake.
