How to Make Money Using Granite Countertop Remnants

Audrey J. Powers

The average person probably won’t have granite countertop remnants just laying around. Those that are fabricators, contractors, or homeowners that just did major kitchen renovations, however, probably do. After doing a kitchen job, that leftover granite usually sits, collecting dust and taking up space. Homeowners probably have no clue what to do with this excess granite, and it likely ends up in landfills somewhere. The fact is, though, that those remnants can work for you – and make you money without having to spend any money whatsoever. Regardless, there is no reason to let them sit! Here are a few things you can do with granite counter remnants to make a bit of cash.

Create Anew

If you’re relatively crafty, you can use those remnants to build something a bit smaller. Examples could include redoing your bathroom counters, perhaps using the stone for a bowl in an above counter bathroom sink, building a coffee table or end table, or using them as decorative stones in your garden. If you have no need for any of these things, you can build them and sell them off-making you a bit of extra green.

Sell Them

If you’re not so handy, or don’t have the time or know-how to embark on a project such as these, you always have the option of selling your granite countertop remnants. Contractors may be looking around for just the piece you have, and you don’t even know it. There are websites available online specifically set up for you to list your remnants of all shapes, sizes, and types for absolutely no cost. You just need a decent camera to take a picture and list them.

As you can see, there’s no reason for you to pile up landfills with precious stone-you can use it to create beautiful pieces that can rake you in a bit of extra cash, or sell your granite countertop remnants at no expense to you. It’s an eco-friendly and an economically friendly choice that should certainly be considered if you’ve got extra stone laying around. So make it work for you!
