Designer Jocelyn Chiappone’s shoppers have contrasting tastes, so she balanced that in this eating room layout. “The classic piece is the table, though the chairs have modern day attraction,” she suggests.Greg Premru

In this South Conclude dining area for a young family of four, Jocelyn Chiappone married the couple’s disparate preferences — she favors conventional and he leans present day — by channeling Artwork Deco design and style. “The regular piece is the table, although the chairs have present day appeal,” claims Chiappone, principal of Digs Design Business. From there, she layered in circa-1920 information, these types of as the radial patterning of the console, the arcs of the rug, and glamorous hits of brass. The coloration scheme, which pairs smooth pastels with stark darks, accentuates the impact.

1 A Patterson Flynn carpet in cream, gray, camel, and blush was the starting place. “The modern scallop pattern is playful so we saved the rest silent and refined,” the designer says.

2 Two unique chair variations enliven the ensemble, as do the upholstery pairings. “The angles of the silhouettes are heightened by the contrasting materials,” Chiappone states.

3 The table’s light gray, antiqued complete retains it from sensation significant though the details — clipped corners and vertical beading — enhance Chiappone’s multilayered approach. “It has some patina, which was purposeful due to the fact this is where by the family eats each working day,” she states.

4 The pale environmentally friendly Hwang Bishop ceramic lamps have been handcrafted in Warren, Rhode Island. “The matching china was serendipity,” she suggests. “We learned it right after the simple fact.”

5 A Phillip Jeffries grass-cloth wallcovering with metallic threads brightens the house. “The home is on the ground degree so there is not a lot of light,” Chiappone states. “This is incredibly reflective.”

6 The brass and acrylic chandelier has simple traces but loads of aptitude. “It appears to be wonderful with parts in the entry, way too,” she states. “I think of lighting as a cohesive relationship in the course of the dwelling.”
