This custom Bluffview home has a private, indoor-outdoor design

Looking for something luxe, contemporary and with flexibility for indoor or outdoor living? This three-bedroom home built by Phillip Jennings Custom Homes in 2012 has open spaces that allow for easy flow while entertaining and a number of spots designed to maximize flexibility for indoor-outdoor living. Plus there are two pools — a wading pool and a regular pool — in the backyard.

This 4,573-square-foot custom home has plenty of unique features, including an outdoor shower, a wooden bathtub and a sauna in the primary suite. Folding exterior doors throughout the house open the indoor spaces to the outdoor living areas.

Listing agent Wendy Harkness of Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate said the flooring is the same inside the home as it is on the outdoor patio, which gives the spaces a connected feel when bifold doors are open.

“It’s a seamless connection between the inside and the outdoors,” Harkness said.

The home is owned by Glenn Gehan, founder of GFO Home, a Dallas homebuilding company.

The contemporary home has three bedrooms, four bathrooms and one half-bathroom plus a temperature-controlled, three-car garage and a cabana with a full bathroom. The cabana has a large, covered outdoor space and an interior space that can be used as guest quarters.

The front entrance of the home has a glass door with windows surrounding it that bring in natural light. Note that an artful wall creates privacy between the front entrance and living spaces, so you don’t have to worry about neighbors peering through the glass front door. The main living room is open to the kitchen and bar area. Bifold doors along one side of the living room connect the indoor and outdoor spaces.

Exterior pocket doors on one side of the dining room open to the front courtyard, which creates another opportunity for an indoor-outdoor flow. A wine closet in the dining room acts as storage and display space. There’s also a media room at the front of the house, next to the dining room, that has its own full bathroom.

Bifold doors in the primary bathroom provide access to a smaller patio with an outdoor shower. The primary bedroom has its own sitting area and spa-like amenities: a sauna, a wooden bathtub (which Harkness said was custom made by a boat maker), a large shower, a walk-in closet and two sinks.

The remaining two bedrooms both have en suite bathrooms.

Outside, a covered patio off the back of the house has a living area and a grill for outdoor cooking. The home’s two pools sit between the main house and the cabana.

Did you know there’s such a thing as a pool cooler? In the event that the Texas heat pushes your pool to what feels like the boiling point, you can cool the larger pool down. Later in the year, when temperatures drop, you can heat this pool back up.

The cabana offers an additional outdoor living space complete with a fireplace, a living area and a dining area and another outdoor kitchen with bar seating. The interior space of the cabana, which has a full bathroom, could be a guest quarters or an additional living room.

The home at 4527 Bluffview Blvd. is listed for $4,950,000. It is currently under contract.
